At 05:30 this morning Canada Geese were heard calling in the Windmill Pond area, Goldfinch numbers peaked at 14 on the feeders this morning.
In the briefest of visits to Area 10 at lunch time and the car park field a slightly confused and mad looking Green Woodpecker was checking out the Electricity pole for who knows what.

In amongst the seed robbing hordes of Goldfinch , Blue Tit and Great Tit at my Area 5 garden feeders this morning were Nuthatch, Greenfinch and a very brief flythrough by a Goldcrest. In Area 8 at Old Forest Road Meadows a Little Egret was seen by Chas and Fran Stickler. Paul O'Neill was also in Area 8 and saw a Lesser Black backed Gull flying along the Emm Brook, 3/4 juvenile Chiffchaff in the hege near Monkey Mates and a flock of 60 Wood Pigeon.

In my Area 5 garden this morning, 10 Goldfinch of varying ages were visiting the feeders going for the Sunflower Hearts. In Area 2, to the rear of Tesco at lunchtime a mixed flock of Long tailed Tit , Blue Tit , Robin and a Nuthatch were working there way through the trees feeding.In Area 10 a Ring necked Parakeet was over the car park field, seen by Richard Marsh.

Paul O'Neil was in Area 8 off Old Forest Road today and saw a Male and Female Blackcap with 1 juvenile, an adult Whitethroat feeding a juvenile and 2 Juvenile Chiffchaff a Buzzard was also seen . In Area 10 a Sparrowhawk was seen by Gavin Turner in the trees to the rear of Bittern Hide at Lavells Lake.

Out and about in Area 8 off Old Forest Road at 06:30 this morning paid divedends. The new SANG is now officially called Old Forest Meadows. Adult and at least 3 juvenille Blackcap were feeding on an sun bathed Elder bush. 2 male Bullfinch were also feeding and calling nearby. A Dunnock then appeared .
A Wren was seen on the vegetation in the field. In Area 1 a Little Owl was seen by Paul Bright Thomas in the trees adjacent to the footpath to Ludgrove School.

For the last 3 or 4 mornings Herring Gull have been flying over my Area 5 house calling at 04:30. Even a bit early for me.

Walking up the river Balsam bashing in Area 5 this evening with Charles Stickler a Kingfisher was first heard and then seen flying upstream, a Grey Wagtail was also seen working its way along the rivers edge feeding.

Paul-Bright Thomas was in Area 4 today and saw a Kestrel flying over to the N, a Coal Tit and 5 Greenfich, 1 adult and 4 juvenilles begging for food from the parent. Meanwhile in Area 5 this evening 3 juvenille Long tailed Tit were on my garden fat feeder .It was also good to hear Swift screaming overhead at various locations along the river.

During the Balsam pulling in Area 6 a Kingfisher was seen by Charles Stickler and Malcolm Dunmore .

More indications of it being a good year for the birds with a juvenille Goldfinch around the garden today .

At my Area 5 feeders was a juvenille Nuthatch .

Flying high over Area 5 early evening were 6 Swifts.
Walking along the river in Area 7, Balsam pulling a Little Egret was seen flying downstream and a Kingfisher was seen flying under the bridge at Emmbrook Road by Fran Stickler.

In Area 8 off Old Forest Road this morning a male Blackcap and Chiffchaff were singing and a Whitethroat was seen in a Bramble Bush. Nearby a Dunnock was noisly alarm calling, possibly due to a nearby nest. In Area 5, early afternoon a Grey Heron was seen flying over Woosehill Roundabout and appeared to be heading for back gardens on the Reading Road..

At 05:30 a calling Grey Heron flew towards the Emm to the rear of Morrisons.

In what appears to have been a good breeding season in most areas, 5 juvenille Great Tit were seen on my garden feeders this morning.

The noisy gang of juvenille Starling visited/mugged my garden feeders this morning. They now appear to have swollen in numbers as 10 were counted .

In Area 5 this year Swift numbers have varied considerably . 2 were seen today whereas 8 were seen yesterday evening. Meanwhile in Area 8 Paul O'Neill saw a singing Whitethroat adjacent to the M4 and a male Bullfinch.Later in the day in Area 10 a Kestrel was seen hovering over the car park field.
